New Bluff Hill Motupōhue Active Recreational Park

A mountain bike and walking track is set to attract tourists from throughout the country to the new adventure park in Bluff during the next two years.

Work is under way on the Bluff Hill Motupōhue Active Recreational Precinct with the Invercargill City Council working closely with the Southland Mountain Bike Club to create the outdoor hub.

New boat ramp and jetties

he Bluff Community Board chairman hopes boaties will be able to benefit from a new boat and jetty ramp by next summer after a series of delays.

Last year, the Invercargill City Council included in its long-term plan a budget of $1.8 million to carry out upgrades of the ramp in the coastal community as it has degraded since its construction more than 30 years ago.

The Southland Aquaculture Agreement

A Southland aquaculture agreement signed yesterday has highlighted a changed relationship between iwi and the Crown.

The Southland Aquaculture Agreement — seven years in the making — was signed in Bluff yesterday.

The agreement provides Ngai Tahu marine space to develop aquaculture in a 16.6ha area and the package has a value of about $4million.
